The MAEVA project consists of the testing of a 1/2 scale model of the concrete confinement wall of a nuclear power plant. The concrete cylinder is loaded by injecting high temperature and high pressure steam inside it.
Aim of monitoring:
The SOFO sensors were imbedded in the concrete wall and/or mounted on the external surface of the cylinder to measure deformations and crack openings during the tests.

Main results:
The SOFO sensors survived the high temperatures (180°C) and were able to measure the deformations during the different runs of the tests.
